Join us on the ice for our seasonal Learn-to-Skate sessions!

  • Fall, Winter & Spring: Our core sessions run for six weeks, with classes held once a week on Friday evenings.

What’s Included

Each session registration includes:

  • Six Group Lessons: Skaters receive a 30-minute (Beginner) or 45-minute (Intermediate/Advanced) group lesson each week.
  • Bonus Practice Ice: One additional practice time on our Freestyle/Practice ice is included to help sharpen your skills.
  • Personalized Scheduling: Lesson times are assigned based on the skater’s skill level to ensure the best learning experience.

Growing With Us: Our Skating Pathway

Our Friday night program is designed to introduce the core fundamentals of skating in a fun and supportive environment. As your athlete masters the basics and becomes more proficient, our coaches will recommend the Next Steps in their skating journey.

If you have any questions about your skater’s level or our program, please contact Coach Bonnie Kirchoff at mountainskating@hotmail.com. The Fenton Chester Skating School lessons will run from October 17th to March 6th.

Skate Rentals

$3.00 per lesson discount on Packages of Season Rental ($45) and 1 Session Rental {six weeks} ($20) from the regular skate rental rate. Season and Session Rentals can be used at the time of public skates, Stick & Puck and Lesson times. Skate rental can be paid at each lesson or may be paid upfront at Pro Shop. Rentals are returned after every use each day.

Lesson First Lesson

Skaters should arrive early to allow time to check in at the front desk and get their skates on. Skaters should dress warmly in comfortable clothing and wear gloves or mittens. Bike or hockey helmets are recommended. For the first and second day of lessons, the skaters will meet their instructor in the lobby at the assigned door of the rink by the sign with their Skating Level listed. The remaining lessons the skaters will meet their instructor on the ice.

Instruction / Practice

All lessons are  30-minute / 45 minute minutes in length with practice time. The practice time is before with a regular scheduled public skating session on Sunday or Saturdays after Exhibition Practice, so parents, siblings or other guests may pay the regular admission and skate rental rate and skate with the skaters during the public skate time after. Lesson times are determined by the level the skater is going into.

Class Advancement

It is not unusual for skaters to repeat a class multiple times. Skaters are allowed to develop at their own pace. Skills taught build upon each other, and to move a skater up before they master a skill only makes skating more difficult. Skaters will be evaluated each session to determine progress.

Make-Up Lessons

Skaters who are not feeling well should not participate in their class.
There are no refunds or make-up lessons for skaters who miss a scheduled lesson day.
Please note that if classes are canceled due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control, every attempt will be made to reschedule these classes. If rescheduling is not possible, there will not be a class offered as a make-up and refunds will not be issued.

Refund / Credit Policy

Refund requests must be made at least 24 hours after the start of the first class. Please be aware that there is a NO refund policy after the session begins.A partial refund/credit will be provided (minus $20.00) if you notify us by the second lesson. Please note, no refunds or credits are available after the second class.

Additional Details

Most classes are limited to 10-12 skaters.

Classes are divided by skill level and when possible by age. Adult classes are taught separately from other classes.

Class times may be moved, combined or cancelled due to enrollment numbers.
